The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics equips undergraduate students for careers in many areas of agribusiness , business in general, public policy, and consumer affairs, as well as for advanced studies in applied economics, agricultural economics, business, law, applied finance, policy analysis or public policy. The Department has approximately 40 Faculty members, 560 undergraduate students and 80 graduate students. It offers eight concentrations of study from which students can choose.

The Department's research and outreach programs are aimed at improving the economic and environmental well-being of producers, consumers, and families. Drawing on economics, business, and law, the department analyzes issues related to individuals and families, agriculture and natural resources, and food -- all ranging in scope from local to global.
